2011 - LWC RAISES $6,936 FOR MS

The 3rd Annual Ride for MS was a success, and the money raised will help support the cause in a big way. More than 100 motorcycle riders participated in the ride, and helped raise a net of $6,936 for Multiple Sclerosis.

On September 18th 2011 motorcycle enthusiasts rallied together for the 160 kilometre ride through Essex County to benefit the MS Society (Windsor Chapter). The event included a Poker Run, banquet dinner in addition to some sweet door prizes won afterwards at the Dominion Golf (Bar & Grill) in LaSalle.

Lone Wolf Clubhouse, a local partnership eye-witnessed local attention as the motorcycle lovers geared up and gladly road to help people living with MS. The day kicked off with a breakfast registration starting at 8:45 a.m. until 10:45am with a striking staff of ladies serving up the $4.00 meal.

Following registration, the poker run revved into action, giving riders a chance to cruise through the county, selecting poker cards at each of the 5 sponsored stops to build their hand. Spectators cheered the riders on as the diverse makes of motorcycles departed from the Dominion clubhouse.

The Ride for MS is a great event that is doing phenomenal things in terms of fundraising for MS research. As the title sponsors, Lone Wolf Clubhouse and Dominion Golf are proud to do whatever it can to help. This year's event was a huge success – great people, great route, and great camaraderie, all for a huge cause that is close to our hearts. We ride because we care. We ride to enjoy life. And we ride to raise money in the fight against MS.

After the ride, some lucky riders were eligible to win a door prize, while everyone (guest included) enjoyed a delicious country style meal served hot, consisting of chicken, penne, roasted potatoes and a salad. After dinner, the prizes for Best and Worst Hand were awarded. The Chinese Auction was a victory, as more stunning prizes were won, including Lisa Viscount of Harrow who won the Highway Honey package in the Silent Auction, created by Janet Dix at Reflections Motorcycle Restorations.

Multiple sclerosis is a potentially debilitating autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. The cause is unknown and there currently is no cure. Funds rose through our third party MS motorcycle ride ensures ongoing scientific research to find a cure, and the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the Windsor chapter to local residents diagnosed with MS.

The Ride for MS coordinators (Shar Good and Mike Bechard) would like to thank the motorcyclists and riding organizations. Thanks goes out to the many volunteers who helped with the event; our affable sponsors and last by most certainly not least, those who made pledges! Congratulations on a job well done. Your constant commitment to the cause made the 2011 ride an unforgettable event. See you next year for the 4th Annual Ride for MS.
